Six Injured as Speeding Car Crashes on Unfinished Stretch of Delhi-Dehradun Corridor

Six people were injured in a multi-vehicle collision on an unfinished section of the Delhi-Dehradun Corridor near Baghpat. The accident, triggered by high speeds and dense fog, has prompted local authorities to demand stricter safety protocols and better signage on the construction-heavy highway stretch. Read the full report on the rescue efforts and administrative response.

BAGHPAT: A high-speed collision on an incomplete section of the Delhi-Dehradun Corridor left six people injured near Mavi Kala village in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district. The incident, which occurred amidst treacherous weather conditions, involved a speeding vehicle losing control and crashing into a series of plastic barricades and stone markers, subsequently triggering a multi-vehicle pile-up. According to preliminary police reports, the primary cause of the accident was significantly reduced visibility due to dense morning fog, which prevented the driver from spotting the construction hazards in time.

The impact was severe enough to cause extensive damage to three separate cars navigating the corridor. Upon receiving the alert, local police units and emergency response teams rushed to the site to initiate rescue operations. The six victims were extracted from the wreckage and immediately transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Eyewitnesses noted that the unfinished nature of the highway, combined with the high velocity of the vehicles, turned the construction zone into a high-risk bottleneck under the heavy seasonal smog.

In the aftermath of the crash, regional administrative officials have issued strict directives to the highway authorities and contractors to bolster safety measures on the stretch. There is now a renewed focus on increasing the number of reflective markers and ensuring that warning signs are visible even in low-light conditions to prevent similar tragedies. Law enforcement remains on the scene to manage traffic flow, while a formal investigation into the sequence of events is currently underway to determine if further safety lapses contributed to the wreckage.
